Year 5 Maths Autumn term

These are some activities to support the work your child is doing in Maths this term. Please feel free to ask or answer any questions at the bottom of the page.

Parents:

This term the focus is on LENGTH. Check children know these measurements and can use them in real situation.



Measures:
1 kilometre = 1000 metres
1 metre = 100 centimetres
1 centimetre = 10 millimetres
Can you measure up?
1. Draw a line which is exactly: 33 mm, 5 cm 5 mm 109 mm
2. mm - cm - m - km...which would you use to measure your foot? your bed? a stamp? the distance between London and Paris?
3. How many millimetres in 20 cm?
4. How many cm in one metre? one kilometre?
5. How many mm in 1 m 34 cm?
6. How many cm long is your bath? the soap? your hair?
7. Estimate the length of your bed, now measure it...how close were you?
